Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net early on.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
